JIM HART QUARTET
‘Words and music’ (A tribute to the art of song)
Vibraphonist Jim Hart is one of the fastest rising stars of the UK jazz scene. In just a few short years he has carved out a reputation as one of the most talented young British composers and musicians garnering praise from the likes of John Surman and Joe Locke. The Jim Hart Quartet are a young group of musicians who, though very much part of a developing scene of contemporary original music, are equally at home exploring and improvising with some of the more well known and loved Jazz repertoire. Jim Hart, Ivo Neame and Mick Coady are all core members of London’s Loop collective and, joined by the much in demand drummer Tristan Mailliot, they bring a fresh and exciting approach to what some people often describe as ‘straight ahead’ Jazz. Through some neat arrangements and some very open improvising they take you on a trip through the world of song from fast swingers through grooving Latin numbers to soulful ballads.
